Guided tour of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre
From: 2nd January 2013  The Globe Theatre is a faithful reconstruction of William Shakespeare's Elizabethean playhouse. An expert guide will lead you through the exciting life of the theatre, and sit you down in the seats whilst they explain how a play was performed in the 16th-century, and how they try and recreate the same feeling today.

"The Tempest", at the Globe Theatre
From: 23rd April 2013  "The Tempest" is Shakespeare's last great masterpiece, and tells the story of Prospero lying marooned on a remote island, usurped and exiled by his own brother. The sorceror uses his magical powers to conjure up a storm and wreck his enemies, but it also awakens his daughter Miranda... whose first experience of love complicates his plot.

"A Midsummer Night's Dream", at the Globe Theatre
From: 24th May 2013  The plot for "A Midsummer Night's Dream" revolves around two sets of couples whose complicated love affairs are complicated still further by the arrival of the King and Queen of the Fairies. Hermia loves Lysander and Helena loves Demetrius -- but Demetrius is supposed to be marrying Hermia... When the lovers take refuge in the woods they wander into the midst of a kingly dispute.

Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew"
From: 10th June 2013  The Globe Theatre is putting on a production of William Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew". The play follows two wealthy sisters as they search for a husband. Bianca is modest and kind, and has no trouble attracting a string of suitors, but Katherina is wild and shrewish and the only man who wants to know is the gold-digging Petruchio. Will he be able to bully her to the altar?

Shakespeare's "Macbeth", at the Globe Theatre
From: 25th June 2013  The Globe Theatre is putting on a production of Shakespeare's "Macbeth". It tells the story of Macbeth, who is promised the Scottish crown by three wicked witches. Driven on by ambition and his ruthless wife, he assassinates the king to realise the prophecy. But as he claims the throne, Macbeth is haunted by demons from his past...
